The draw for the CAF Confederation Cup and the CAF Champions League took place earlier this afternoon at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
CAF Confederation Cup
In a particularly challenging Group A, CECAFA representatives Simba find themselves alongside the formidable North African teams: CS Constantine of Algeria, who reached the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League in 2018/19, and CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, champions of the Confederation Cup in 2007, 2008, and 2013. Completing the group are FC Bravos do Maquis of Angola, who are making their debut in the group stage of the Confederation Cup.
Defending champions Zamalek will compete against fellow Egyptian side Al Masry, Nigeria’s Enyimba, and A. Black Bulls from Mozambique in group D
Another intriguing matchup, features Ivorian giants Asec Mimosas pitted against USM Alger in group C, while former champions RS Berkane will face off against South Africa’s debutants Stellenbosch and Mali’s Stade Malien in group B for the two automatic qualifications slot.

The group stage starts 28th November 2024 for Matchday 1 and ends 19th January 2025 with Matchday 6.
CAF Champions League
Last season’s quarterfinalists, Yanga SC, have been placed in a relatively favorable Group A, alongside CECAFA rivals Al Hilal SC Omdurman of Sudan, five-time champions TP Mazembe of the DRC, and Algerian powerhouse MC Alger.
In Group B, South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns will compete against Moroccan duo Raja Casablanca and ASFAR club.
Group C, however, presents a formidable challenge. Defending champions Al Ahly will face South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, and Cote giants D’Ivoire’s Stade d’Abidjan.
Group D promises thrilling encounters as group favourites Esperance du Tunis take on Egypt’s Pyramids and Malian giants Djoliba AC Bamako for the two available qualification slots.
