In anticipation of the upcoming CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship, the Junior Stars, Kenya’s under-18 national football team, are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations. The highly-anticipated tournament is scheduled to kick off on November 25th, running through to December 9th, 2023, with matches split between Kisumu and Kakamega.

In a draw that promises intense competition, Kenya finds itself in Group A alongside formidable opponents Somalia, Rwanda, Sudan, and Djibouti. Group B, equally challenging, comprises Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan, and Uganda. The group stage matches will unfold in Kisumu and Kakamega, with Group A battles heating up in Kisumu and Group B clashes taking place in Kakamega.

The stakes are high, as only the winners of each group will advance to the semi-finals, set to take place on December 5th in Kisumu. The format dictates that the group winners will lock horns with the runners-up for a shot at glory.

The Junior Stars’ journey commences on the opening day as they face Sudan in a riveting clash at 3 pm in Kisumu. The team, led by their coaching staff, has intensified training sessions, aiming to showcase skill, resilience, and teamwork on the grand stage.

The CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship is not only an opportunity for these budding talents to shine but also a platform for football enthusiasts to witness the emergence of future stars. With Kisumu and Kakamega eagerly awaiting the kickoff, fans can expect an exhilarating display of youthful exuberance and football prowess.

As the countdown to the championship narrows, the nation holds its breath, hoping the Junior Stars will rise to the occasion and make Kenya proud in this regional youth football spectacle. Stay tuned for in-depth coverage as the Junior Stars aim to etch their names in the annals of CECAFA history.
