Kenyan international Clarke Oduor has opened up on how the unwavering support from fans back home has reignited his morale and sharpened his focus, as he balances club duties with Grimsby Town F.C. and international assignments with the Harambee Stars.

    Fan Support Fuels Oduor’s Resurgence

The 27-year-old midfielder, who has been steadily rebuilding his form in England, credited Kenyan supporters for playing a pivotal role in his renewed confidence. Speaking to Grimsby media, Oduor emphasized that encouragement from home has had a direct impact on his performances.

“It’s so good to hear positive remarks and feedback from fans back home. It definitely gives me the motivation and morale to keep giving my best on the pitch and when called upon for national team duty.”

Oduor, who has previously battled inconsistency and limited playing time, appears to be turning a corner at a crucial stage of the season.

    Kigali Tournament Experience Boosts Confidence

His remarks come shortly after his involvement with Harambee Stars in the FIFA Series mini-tournament staged in Kigali. Kenya finished third in the competition, with the matches providing head coach opportunities to assess squad depth and tactical options.

For Oduor, the tournament offered valuable minutes on the international stage and a chance to reconnect with the national team setup, further strengthening his confidence.

Regular Game Time Key at Grimsby Town

At club level, the midfielder has recently enjoyed a run of back-to-back starts in EFL League Two, a development he admits has been instrumental in boosting his match fitness and belief.

“It has been a confidence booster for me to play back-to-back matches, and it gives me the edge to continue fighting. It’s a good feeling to be playing matches and with a couple of games left, I am looking forward to doing so.”

Oduor’s versatility, capable of operating in midfield or out wide, has made him a valuable asset for Grimsby as they navigate the closing stages of the campaign.

Big Finish Ahead for Club and Country

With only a handful of fixtures remaining in the League Two season, Oduor is focused on maintaining consistency and contributing to his club’s objectives. At the same time, his improved form is a timely boost for Harambee Stars as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures, including World Cup qualifiers and regional competitions.

His resurgence also reflects a broader trend of Kenyan players abroad finding form and confidence, a positive sign for the national team’s ambitions on the continental and global stage.

    Growing Influence Beyond the Pitch

Beyond his on-field contributions, Oduor’s story underscores the importance of fan engagement in modern football. The connection between diaspora-based players and supporters back home continues to play a crucial role in shaping performance and morale.

As he looks to close out the season strongly, Oduor will be aiming to translate his renewed confidence into consistent performances, both in England and in national colors, while continuing to draw inspiration from the passionate support of Kenyan fans.
