Football development in Kenya has received a major boost following the official launch of the “Boots for All” initiative by FIFA in collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

The program, unveiled with strong backing from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, aims to provide essential football gear, particularly boots, to young and aspiring footballers across the country. The initiative is part of FIFA’s broader commitment to expanding access to the sport and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.

“Through unity and investment, we will ensure the future of Kenyan football continues to look bright.” – Gianni Infantino

In a message marking the milestone, Infantino congratulated Kenya for embracing the initiative, describing it as a “landmark moment” for the country’s football journey. He emphasized that the project reflects a shared vision between FIFA and FKF to empower children with dreams of playing football by ensuring they have the necessary equipment.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of investing in youth development as the foundation for long-term success in Kenyan football. The initiative is expected to reach thousands of children, particularly in underserved communities where access to proper sports gear remains a major challenge.

The “Boots for All” program also complements ongoing infrastructure developments supported under the FIFA Forward program. Key among these projects is the Machakos Technical Centre, which is being developed to enhance training and capacity-building for players and coaches. Additionally, the upcoming Talanta Sports Stadium is set to provide a world-class venue that will further elevate Kenya’s football profile both regionally and globally.

Kenya’s growing reputation as a football hub was also highlighted, particularly following its successful hosting of the 2026 FIFA Series women’s edition. The tournament showcased the country’s ability to organize international competitions while promoting the women’s game.

Stakeholders believe that the combination of equipment provision, infrastructure development, and increased international exposure will play a critical role in transforming Kenyan football. By addressing key challenges such as lack of resources and limited access to facilities, initiatives like “Boots for All” are expected to create a more inclusive and competitive football ecosystem.

As momentum builds, the focus now shifts to implementation and ensuring that the benefits reach grassroots players across the country. With continued collaboration between FIFA, FKF, and local stakeholders, the future of Kenyan football appears increasingly promising.
