The FKF Premier League continued its action-packed weekend, with defending champions Gor Mahia FC displaying their dominance in a 3–0 victory over Posta Rangers at Machakos Stadium. The match, which was played under challenging weather conditions, saw Gor Mahia extend their flawless start to the season with two wins out of two games, six points, and a +7 goal difference.

The encounter began with a minute of silence to honor the late Austin Oduor, a former Gor Mahia captain, who passed away just three days earlier. Oduor, who spent 12 years at the club, won seven league titles, a regional title, and a continental title during his tenure. His remarkable contributions were acknowledged in a special way by Gor Mahia, with players donning black armbands to commemorate his legacy.

Gor Mahia took an early lead in the match, with Byson Wangai opening the scoring in the 5th minute. The team’s momentum continued as Kenya Premier League (KPL) MVP Austin Odhiambo doubled the lead in the 38th minute with a thunderous strike, marking his second goal of the season in as many games. The first half was largely dominated by Gor Mahia, despite the heavy downpour that left the Machakos playing surface in poor condition.

As the teams returned for the second half, Gor Mahia coach Leo Neiva made a series of tactical substitutions. Congolese forward Gideon Bendeka and Samuel Onyango replaced Chris Ochieng and Bonface Omondi in the 59th minute, while Kevin Juma came on for Lawrence Juma, marking his return after a lengthy absence due to injury. The final substitution came in the 78th minute, with Paul Ochuoga and Musa Masika replacing the goal scorers, Wangai and Odhiambo.

Gor Mahia sealed their victory with a third goal in the 86th minute. Gideon Bendeka, who had been influential since his introduction, orchestrated the goal through relentless pressure. He won the ball and crossed it to an overlapping Paul Ochuoga, who returned the favor with a precise delivery that Bendeka headed into the net. This marked Bendeka’s second goal of the season, further solidifying his importance to the team.

The match ended 3–0, with Gor Mahia maintaining their perfect start to the campaign. Notably, the champions achieved this commanding win while resting several key players, including Geoffrey Simiti, Sylvester Owino, Ronney Onyango (all returning from international duty), and Alpha Onyango. Both first-choice goalkeepers, Kennedy ‘Saha’ and Gad Mathews, were also absent from the matchday squad.

Other FKF Premier League Results

Mathare United and Bidco kicked off game week 5, where the Slum Boys secured their first victory of the season. A 1–0 win, courtesy of a decisive goal from Daniel Mukok, marked a much-needed breakthrough win for the team.

Kariobangi Sharks and AFC Leopards played to a 1–1 draw. Kariobangi Sharks took the lead in the 19th minute through Frederick Alushula, who finished off a brilliant defense-splitting pass from Biron Otieno. However, AFC Leopards’ Victor Omune equalized just before halftime, capitalizing on a well-executed cross from Arthur Gitego. Despite a lively first half, neither side could find a winner in the second half.

Ulinzi Stars and Kenya Police as well as  Bandari and Murang’a Seals played to a  0–0 stalemate at Kinoru Stadium & Mbaraki Stadium respectively.

Sofapaka and  Nairobi Stars also sharing points thanks to 1–1 draw.

Elsewhere, Tusker FC, after a challenging start to the season, reignited their title challenge with a 3–1 victory over FC Talanta at Machakos Stadium. Thomas Teka opened the scoring in the 6th minute, and George Kaddu added a brace to ensure Tusker’s second win of the season. After a string of underwhelming results that included only one victory in their previous four matches, this win marked a crucial turning point for the team that last claimed the title two seasons ago.

Newly promoted side Mara Sugar registered a significant 1–0 win over Shabana FC, with Joseph Okwenda scoring the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute at Awendo’s Green Stadium.

Kcb & Kakamega Homeboyz in action

League leaders KCB continued their outstanding form with a resounding 4–1 win over Kakamega Homeboyz, extending their perfect start to the season and maintaining their position at the top of the table.
