The Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office has officially closed the investigation into Mr. Veron Mosengo-Omba, the Secretary General of the Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF), after determining there was no factual or legal basis to pursue the case further. This decision follows a thorough review of the situation and subsequent investigation, which did not reveal any wrongdoing.
In November 2024, Mosengo-Omba voluntarily travelled to Fribourg, Switzerland, to provide testimony related to the ongoing preliminary investigations. Despite this cooperation, the Swiss authorities concluded that no charges or legal proceedings were warranted.
CAF has expressed its satisfaction with the decision, reaffirming its commitment to upholding the principles of ethics, transparency, and governance within its organization. The football governing body highlighted that such standards have been consistently promoted since the appointment of Dr. Patrice Motsepe as CAF President. CAF had previously requested an internal audit and governance investigation, aimed at reviewing potential breaches of internal regulations within the CAF Secretariat.
This outcome underscores CAF’s ongoing dedication to maintaining strong governance practices in line with global standards, ensuring the continued integrity of African football administration.
