In a resounding display of skill and teamwork, the Kenya National U-18 Boys team, Junior Stars, marked the commencement of their CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship campaign with a spectacular 5-0 triumph over Sudan at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

The early proceedings saw Louise Ingavi shine, as he notched a brace for Kenya. His opening goal in the 7th minute, assisted by Tyron Kariuki’s precise through pass, set the tone for Kenya’s dominance. Kariuki, not content with his assist, showcased his goal-scoring prowess, finding the net in the 29th minute.

Aldrine Kibet extended Kenya’s lead in the 33rd minute, and just before halftime, Ingavi secured his second goal of the match, propelling Team Kenya to a commanding 4-0 advantage.

The second half witnessed Elly Owade seal the victory with Kenya’s fifth and final goal in the 88th minute, capping off a stellar performance.

As a result of this impressive win, Kenya currently leads Group A and is set to face second-placed Rwanda in their second match on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium at noon.

In the tournament’s opening fixture, Rwanda secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Somalia, with Bobo Sibomana Sultan netting the decisive goal.

Looking ahead, the CECAFA U-18 Championship continues in Kakamega on Sunday, November 26, 2023, featuring two Group B matches. The early kick-off will witness Zanzibar taking on South Sudan, followed by a 3 p.m. clash between Tanzania and Uganda.

Kenya’s commanding performance has set the stage for an exciting tournament, and fans eagerly anticipate the team’s upcoming matches as they aim to maintain their position atop Group A. Stay tuned for more exhilarating action in the CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship.
