    AFCON Saturday results roundup.

Algeria vs Burkina Faso: A Nail-Biting 2–2 Draw

The clash between Algeria and Burkina Faso unfolded with Mohamed Konate’s header putting the Stallions ahead just before halftime. Bounedjah quickly responded, leveling the score six minutes into the second half. However, Bertrand Traore’s penalty 20 minutes later swung the lead back to Burkina Faso.

With the two-time champions on the brink of defeat, Bounedjah rose to the occasion in added time, securing a crucial point for Algeria. The draw leaves Group D finely poised, with Burkina Faso and Angola level on four points.

Algeria faces a precarious situation, needing a win against Mauritania in their upcoming game to avoid elimination or relying on being one of the four best third-placed teams.

    Angola Prevails in Five-Goal Thriller:

Angola claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over Mauritania in another group D encounter. Gelson Dala’s brace, accompanied by a goal from Gilberto, propelled Angola to the top of the group on goal difference. Amar Sidi Bouna and Aboubakary Koita scored exquisite goals for Mauritania in a match filled with high-quality finishes.

Angola faces Burkina Faso in their last group D game, a match they just need to avoid defeat to advance to the next round

    Tunisia Resilient in Comeback:

In Group E, Tunisia showcased resilience by coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Mali. Lassine Sinayoko gave Mali an early lead, but Hamza Rafia’s equalizer within 10 minutes leveled the score at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium.

Mali, who topped the standings with four points, previously defeated South Africa, while Tunisia sought redemption after an upset defeat to Namibia. The Carthage Eagles now face a must-win situation against Bafana Bafana in their last group game to keep their hopes alive for advancing to the next round.
