In a social media rant, Sally Bolo, former Treasurer of Gor Mahia FC, voiced her discontent with the decision to relocate a home match to Murang’a, questioning the club’s administrative coherence and commitment to professionalism.

Bolo’s critique hinges on the fundamental notion of a home ground advantage, a cornerstone in the strategy of football clubs worldwide. She underscores that Gor Mahia FC had not designated the Murang’a venue, Sportpesa Arena (St. Sebastian Park stadium), as their home ground or an alternative, thereby challenging the rationale behind the relocation.

The opponent, Muhoroni Youth FC, represents a struggling community team, akin to many others in the football landscape. Bolo deems it illogical for the club officials to opt for a venue change, potentially diluting the home advantage and jeopardizing crucial revenue streams, particularly from gate collections.

The decision raises pertinent questions about financial viability and strategic foresight. Bolo queries whether the club stands to profit substantially from ticket sales in Murang’a, especially if Muhoroni Youth FC garners unexpected support from local fans. Such a scenario could undermine Gor Mahia FC’s financial objectives and competitive edge.

Bolo’s criticism extends beyond the specific venue choice to the broader competence of the club’s administration. She labels the decision as “pedestrian,” signaling a lack of strategic vision and professionalism. Her admonishment culminates in a stark ultimatum: if the current leadership is incapable of managing the club proficiently, they ought to relinquish their roles.

In the fixtures unveiled earlier today, Gor Mahia is slated to host Muhoroni Youths at St. Sebastian Park in Murang’a on Sunday. The club citing the absence of a viable alternative venue nearby. Additionally, Gor Mahia expressed concerns over security issues and the disproportionate expenditure compared to income when playing away matches in Kisumu.
